The course will consist of three complementary components: Traditional timber construction, digital CNC based timber construction, timber joints made with hand held tools. You will also develop the ability to apply this understanding to practice. At the completion of the course you will understand the basics of traditional wood connections and CNC (computer numerical control) technology and its relevance timber architecture. The goal of the course is to introduce you to both traditional and digitally fabricated wood connections, with special emphasis on traditional Chinese wood construction.
